Training & Workshop Webinar: How to Develop a Port Waste Management Plan

December 12th, 2023

The GloLitter Partnerships Project is continuing its series of Global Webinars aimed at capacity-building to address sea-based marine plastic litter issues.

Following the development of the GloLitter Guidance Document on Developing a Port Waste Management Plan and Model Port Waste Management Plan, the GloLitter Partnerships Project has invited all partnering countries and their task forces to a training workshop with GloLitter international consultant and author of the Guidance Document, Mr Peter Van Den Dries, who provided step-by-step guidance on How to Develop Port Waste Management Plan. The important role of adequate Port Reception Facilities was explored, along with international Legal and Policy Frameworks governing the port waste management and port reception facilities and other related topics.

The objective of this workshop was to train national experts, who may then be prepared to run the same workshop at a national level.

Following these virtual trainings, 5 countries will be identified that are interested in developing national port waste management plans to which the GloLitter Partnership Project will provide support in developing these port waste management plans in 2024 and 2025.
