Open call for members to new Global Alliance on ocean litter

July 18th, 2024

Businesses operating in the shipping and fisheries sectors are invited to express their interest in joining the OceanLitter Global Industry Alliance (GIA)

The alliance will bring together maritime and fisheries industry leaders, with the aim of developing innovative solutions to prevent and reduce ocean plastics, while addressing common barriers to the uptake of technologies and alternative approaches.

The OceanLitter GIA will be managed by IMO as part of its OceanLitter Programme – a portfolio of projects that includes the GloLitter Partnerships project (GloLitter) and Regional Litter Project (RegLitter). It will build on and replace the project-specific GIA established previously under the GloLitter project.

Expressions of Interest must be submitted to oceanlitter@imo.org. For guidance and further information, see the IMO news item here or the Circular Letter 4877/Rev.1 for the call for expression of interest to join OceanLitter GIA.
